Carol's a college student having a hard time following what's going on in her class. After class, she comes to John, her professor, to see if her fears of failing are about to come true. And what she can do to prevent it.

It's just been announced that John will be receiving tenure at the college. With his wife phoning to get him to sign papers to close the sale of their house, John tells Carol that they can start over. Nothing in class matters and that he has the power to change her grade...if she will come and meet him after class.

What happens over the next few meetings is a whirlwind of emotion, misunderstandings and conflict. Accusations are made, tempers flare and bargains are struck.

Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet's play will challenge how you think about authority, the sexes and the power struggle in the school system.
